Spreading the Love in Kankakee County One Postcard at a Time

KANKAKEE COUNTY, IL—February 4, 2022

The Visit Kankakee County team (known locally as the Kankakee County Convention & Visitors Bureau) is helping our community spread the love with their “My Heart is in Kankakee County” postcard campaign. The campaign is being launched just in time for residents to participate in “National Send a Card to a Friend Day” on Monday, February 7. Their hope is that the campaign will spread the love of Kankakee County across the country, provide a way for community members to send a bit of cheer during this gloomy time of year and, of course, increase foot traffic to local businesses.

With a total of 27 businesses participating in Bourbonnais, Bradley, Grant Park, Herscher, Kankakee, Manteno and Momence, members of the community and business patrons will have many opportunities to get their hands on one (or more!) of the FREE postcards that will be mailed to their friends and family anywhere. An added bonus: participants are asked to affix a heart sticker to the front to indicate where in Kankakee County their heart lies. To make it a super-easy experience, the Visit Kankakee County team is even taking care of postage and mailing!

The original artwork and concept for the postcard was designed by lifetime Kankakee County resident, Bill Yohnka, who is known for his stylized chalkboard map designs that celebrate the uniqueness of our area.

Executive Director Staci Wilken is excited about the program stating, "When’s the last time you received an unexpected post card in the mail? This campaign is not only a fun way for residents of all ages to remind their loved ones where “home” is, it also encourages a stop at a local business. Let’s all work together to spread the love from Kankakee County!”
