Ambassador Spotlight: Veronica Featherston

Actively involved in the community, Veronica Featherston is going on her one-year anniversary as the Director of the Kankakee County Museum and as the Co-Chair Representative of the Young Professionals Network (YPN).

Veronica grew up in Manteno and after graduating from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s in anthropology, she joined the Air National Guard as a Knowledge Operations Manager. After a few years, she transferred to Airfield Management, and she spent most of her time in service in Peoria, IL. After getting engaged to her high school sweetheart, Brad, they decided to buy a home in Manteno where they currently reside.

While in college, Veronica volunteered at the Kankakee County Museum about once a month and started working at the museum as the Curatorial Assistant in 2018. In March 2021, she was offered the Executive Director position. As the Executive Director of the Kankakee County Museum, Veronica is responsible for supervising employees and volunteers, developing exhibits, coordinating special events, raising funds, seeking grants, maintaining memberships, managing daily operations, educating the Board of Directors, preparing an annual report and budget, engaging with the community, and ensuring their various buildings are maintained.

In her spare time, Veronica enjoys going to the movies, teaching dance and fitness classes, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.

Veronica originally joined the chamber for the network opportunities and to help make a difference and be more involved in the community. As the YPN Chair Representative, she enjoys meeting the other chamber ambassadors and being involved in the events.
