Hello. My name is Leonel B. Jaramillo. I am the Economic Development Navigator for the City of Kankakee in the Economic and Community Development Agency (ECDA).
To give you a scope of what I do in my line of work, imagine me as an intermediary. I connect people with the right people, the right resources and the right information. I mostly deal with small businesses development. However, I have encountered exposure to attraction efforts, talks with major corporations and involvement in substantial economic investments. Some of my work done through conferences, networking and negotiations has created ripple effects at the local level and trickled out to reach county, regional, state, and national levels.
Time management, communication, and attentiveness to detail have always been my greatest skillset throughout a various range of roles. I have worked in industries ranging from a shift supervisor in local restaurants to assisting in the dentistry field, to the most recent venture of stabilizing training within microbiology laboratories; all while completing my degree in finance. I have always loved numbers and being able to overcome obstacles thrown in my way. My main focus right now is building a solid foundation for my family.
