Board Spotlight: John Keigher
Going on his second year, John Keigher plays an important role at the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce as the Board of Directors President. Due to Keigher’s love for community, meeting new people and businesses, he enjoys being a part of the Chamber.
Born and raised in Kankakee County, Keigher has always been actively involved in the community. Keigher attended Kankakee Community College and Governor State University where he obtained his degree in computer science.
Throughout the years, John has served as the Director, Vice President, and Partner for Midwest Transit Equipment Inc. for 25 years and the CEO of Urban Farmer Foods for three and a half years.
“It is not always about making the most money, but it’s about giving back to the community. If you help to make others successful, you will be successful,” says John. For those who know John, know that this is a motto that he lives by.
In his spare time, John enjoys spending time with his high school sweetheart, Shanon; his children, Jonathan and Jordan; and granddaughters, Penelope Rose and Charlotte Jay. His perfect day would be a day full of family, ping-pong, food and walks through the park.
John describes that Kankakee County has been good to his family and he enjoys giving back to the community and advertising for companies that people are unaware of. John encourages everyone to get involved in the opportunities Kankakee County and the Chamber offers the community. He stated, “Continue to keep walking through the front door. You control your destiny, and you only live once, so give it your all.”
We are very grateful for Keigher’s heart for the community and his time and support for all that he does and represents at the Chamber. We greatly appreciate everything John does for the Chamber, and we are honored to have him as our Board President.
