The current Intergovernmental Agreement facilitating tourism promotion in Kankakee County is set to expire on June 30, 2024. Visit Kankakee County has proposed a new agreement to
continue these efforts, which will commence on July 1, 2024, and conclude on June 30, 2026.
The proposal received unanimous approval from the board members at recent Board of
Directors meetings held on the following dates:
- Village of Bourbonnais: April 15, 2024
- Village of Manteno: April 15, 2024
- City of Kankakee: May 6, 2024
- Kankakee County: May 14, 2024
The proposal was offered to the Village of Bradley, however no action has yet to be taken.
The forthcoming agreement introduces revised membership eligibility and funding
mechanisms:
- Membership will be open to county and municipal entities with populations exceeding
7,500.
-Members will contribute annual dues of $60,000 to Visit Kankakee County, with an
additional $5,000 for each hotel within their jurisdiction.
- Each member entity will appoint a director to the board.
- All dues can be funded from any source, and members are permitted to retain all
surplus revenue from local hotel taxes for discretionary use.
