KANKAKEE COUNTY, IL – National Travel & Tourism Week (May 19th-25th) is just around the
corner and Visit Kankakee County is gearing up for a week-long celebration to honor the
dedicated individuals who make our hospitality industry shine. From May 19th to 25th,
communities across the nation will come together to recognize the vital role travel and tourism
play in driving economic growth. Last year alone, travel spending left a $2.8 TRILLION economic
footprint on the U.S. economy and supported over 15 million jobs. In Illinois $89 BILLION was
generated in state and local tax revenue to support our essential services like education,
emergency response and public safety. The travel and tourism industry is also responsible for
fostering cultural exchange, and creating memorable experiences for visitors and residents
alike.
Tourism sustains over 1200 jobs in Kankakee County alone, and the Visit Kankakee County team
is commited to recognizing the dedication of this hardworking crew every day. However,
National Travel and Tourism Week provides a special occasion to shine a spotlight on these
tireless individuals who go the extra mile to make every visitor feel valued and appreciated.
To kick off the festivities, Visit Kankakee County is hosting an exciting county tour on Friday,
May 17th, offering participants an exclusive opportunity to explore some of the finest
atractions our county has to offer. This full-day excursion promises adventure, discovery, and
plenty of surprises along the way.
The itinerary for the day is as follows:
9:00am - 10:30am: Downtown Manteno Golf Cart Scavenger Hunt
Participants will embark on a thrilling adventure through downtown Manteno, discovering
hidden gems and enjoying sweet treats at every turn.
11:00am - 12:00pm: Connect Roasters Roasting Facility Tour (Bradley)
Guests will have the opportunity to unravel the secrets behind crafting the perfect late during
a tour of the Connect Roasters Roasting Facility in Bradley.
12:30pm - 1:30pm: B. Harley Bradley House Tour (Kankakee)
Immerse yourself in history with a guided tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's first prairie-style home,
the B. Harley Bradley House, in Kankakee.
2:00pm - 3:30pm: Haymaker Horse Ranch Experience (Bourbonnais)
Wrap up the day with delicious snacks, refreshing beverages, and quality time with adorable
farm animals at Haymaker Horse Ranch in Bourbonnais.
