June WIN Spotlight: Mary Thomson

I truly believe God put me on this earth to try to make a difference, thus my serving on several Boards and belonging to service organizations. I am the Community Liaison for UplitedCare. Previously I was part of marketing efforts and community relations for Riverside HealthCare. Before that I served students at KCC and was a high school teacher for 22 years. My time currently is spent serving on the Boards for Christmas Golf, Child Network, Women in Networking, Kankakee County Humane Foundation, Zonta, Kiwanis Club and part of the Women United Breakfast Committee. As a Kiwanian, I coordinate efforts for co-projects with the Kankakee Rotary and the Bradley-Bourbonnais Rotary. Also as a Kiwanian, I proudly lead the Winter Warmth Program and help with the All God's Children Must Have Shoes Program. We serve close to 250 children annually in grades K-5 in Kankakee, Bradley, Bourbonnais, St. George and Pembroke public schools by providing new winter outerwear and new shoes and socks for the children recommended by the school Social Workers and Teachers.
