April 30 Screening of Resilience Doc Will Shed Light on Lasting Impacts of Childhood

Trauma, Healing, and Prevention

KANKAKEE, IL – The community is invited to a special screening of Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of
Hope on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Kankakee Community College. This powerful documentary sheds light on the
long-term effects of childhood trauma and groundbreaking research shaping new approaches to healing and prevention.

Doors open at 5:00 PM for the event organized by Clove Alliance, Child Network, and United Way. Representatives from
these organizations will be on hand to share information about support services. Light refreshments will be served before
the film screening begins at 5:30 PM.

Resilience explores the science behind Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and how toxic stress can impact lifelong
health. Research has linked childhood trauma to increased risks of heart disease, cancer, substance abuse, and
depression. However, the film also presents innovative solutions from pediatricians, therapists, educators, and
communities who are using brain science to disrupt cycles of violence, addiction, and disease.

“The research highlighted in this film is critical to understanding how trauma shapes our lives,” said Carmen King,
Director of Clinical Operations at Clove Alliance. “This event is an opportunity to come together, learn, and discuss how
we can support healing.”
